As California awaits delivery of 380,000 doses of the newly approved Johnson & Johnson vaccine, supply issues continue to confuse healthcare providers.
Sutter Health had to cancel or postpone tens of thousands of appointments for people to get their second dose this week and may have to postpone several more if it doesn’t get more doses soon.
In total, around 90,000 appointments are uncertain.
The health system, which also manages several mass vaccinations sites in Northern California, informed 40,000 patients by phone and email that their appointments for this week are no longer available and that they are now on a waiting list.
But the CDC says people who have had their second delayed injection shouldn’t panic.
