Health Major Abbott said on Wednesday it has launched next-generation heart rate management devices in India. The company introduced its new implantable cardioverting defibrillator (ICD) and cardiac resynchronization therapy defibrillator (CRT-D) devices for people with abnormal heart rhythms and heart failure, the lead drug said in a statement.

The devices offer new opportunities for patient engagement and remote monitoring through smartphone connectivity and connected apps, he added. Additional benefits include a patient preferred design, better battery life, and MRI compatibility, Abbott said.

“The positive impact of remote monitoring has been proven time and time again and leads to better patient outcomes,” said Avi Fischer, division vice president and medical director of Abbott’s Cardiac Rhythm Management division. . The devices give people the ability to connect to their doctor anytime, even when they are away from home, and reinforces their commitment to incorporate advanced technologies that will help improve engagement between patients, caregivers and doctors, he added.
