Amazon 2023 Devices Event: From Echo Frames to Echo Show 8, here’s everything announced
Amazon concluded its annual fall event in Arlington, Virginia, on Wednesday. The tech giant unveiled several new products and updated the AI model powering its voice assistant – Alexa.
Updated Alexa with Generative AI Features and Continuous Conversation
Amazon introduced an updated version of Alexa, its voice assistant, powered by generative AI features and continuous conversation capabilities. This update will be available on all products, including the first generation of Echo devices. With ChatGPT-like capabilities and Google Assistant-like continuous conversation, Alexa aims to provide a more seamless and natural user experience.
Next Generation of Echo Frames with Customizable Styles and Lens Options
Amazon unveiled the next generation of Echo Frames, its smart glass lineup powered by Alexa. The new Echo Frames come in seven different styles, including two designed in partnership with Carrera. They offer multiple lens options, such as sunglass lenses with UV400 protection, blue light lenses, and prescription-ready lenses. The Echo Frames are also IPX4 water and scratch-resistant and provide up to six hours of continuous media playback or talk time.
Echo Show 8 with Improved Camera and Dynamic Content Display
The Echo Show 8 features a centered camera and improved noise reduction. It boasts a custom speaker system with support for Spatial Audio and an eight-inch screen. The device utilizes proximity sensors to display dynamic content based on the user’s distance. When the user moves away, the screen shows brief information like news headlines or a large clock, while moving closer offers more detailed content.
The Echo Show 8 will start shipping next month and can be pre-ordered for $149.99.
To bring the curtain down, Amazon’s 2023 Devices Event showcased a range of innovative products and updates aimed at enhancing user experience and integrating smart technology into everyday life. With the introduction of updated Alexa, the next generation of Echo Frames, and the Echo Show 8, Amazon continues to push the boundaries of AI and voice assistant technology.
