Colton Morris of Arkansas Tech University earns regional acclaim for his research on the Highland Darter.
ATU’s Morris Honored for Highland Darter Research
Arkansas Tech University senior Colton Morris of Mountainburg earned regional acclaim for his research during the 2023 Southeastern Fishes Council meeting. Morris earned third place in the Suttkus Best Student Poster Presentation for his work on the microhabitat use of the Highland Darter in the Illinois Bayou watershed of Arkansas.
Morris, a fisheries and wildlife science major, is completing his research into the highland darter as part of the ATU undergraduate research grants program under the direction of Dr. Kyler Hecke, ATU assistant professor of fisheries science in the ATU Department of Biological Sciences.
