(Reuters) – Australian lithium miner Piedmont Lithium PLL.AX said on Monday it has signed an agreement with U.S. automaker Tesla Inc. TSLA.O to supply high-purity lithium ore from its deposits in North Carolina for an initial period of five years.
Under the deal, Tesla will source about one-third of Piedmont’s planned production of 160,000 tonnes per year of spodumene concentrate, a high-purity lithium ore for the first five years, the miner said in a statement.
