The Chinese military recently conducted live-fire training exercises with high-altitude multi-rocket mine launchers, an official media report said on Thursday. A brigade from the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Tibet Military Command conducted the test firing exercise in simulated combat scenarios on a training ground at an altitude of over 4,300 meters, reported the Global Times, citing a military statement. The test achieved its goal of setting up remote obstacles and placing mines across an entire region, where temperatures and oxygen levels are low, he said.

The new weapon system will allow for rapid regional lockdown during combat, and it is much more efficient than manual labor, according to the report. According to a video attached to the military statement, a truck carries 40 barrels of rocket launchers and the rocket-propelled mines are fired at short intervals, much like a standard multiple rocket launcher system.
