Hospitals in many countries are struggling to provide basic health care services, and technology companies are helping to address the deficit. Tim Cook announced that Apple is donating “millions” of masks to healthcare workers in Europe and the United States. Although he didn’t explain how many were walking around, Vice President Mike Pence said in a briefing that 2 million N95 masks are on their way to the U.S.
This adds to other contributions, including $ 15 million in donations and a program that allows Apple Card owners to skip their March payments without interest.
Our teams at Apple have worked to help healthcare providers fight COVID-19. We donate millions of masks to healthcare professionals in the United States and Europe. We thank every hero at the front.

Apple is certainly not the only one to support the fight against COVID-19, including direct equipment donations. Alibaba and its founder Jack Ma donated masks, test kits, protective suits and face protection, while Elon Musk from Tesla offered to make fans. Nevertheless, this is part of a positive trend and suggests that technology companies can play an important role in fighting the pandemic, regardless of whether or not they have directly relevant expertise.
