A new doorbell shown at CES 2021 does more than capture an image of who’s on your forehead – it’ll also check if they have a fever.
Ettie’s makers claim the device is the first video doorbell that combines temperature controls, image recording and real-time alerts.
The doorbell uses a built-in infrared sensor to check a visitor’s temperature, then records the data with their image, date and time in a corresponding app.
Plott, the company behind the app, says the doorbell can help with contact tracing amid the COVID-19 pandemic. It is also capable of tracking headcount and will alert users if they have reached maximum capacity in a space.
The doorbell is expected to launch later in 2021 for $ 300.
Ettie is one of several products available at CES 2021 aimed at ensuring user safety during the pandemic. Some gadgets revealed at the tech show include smart masks, portable air purifiers and robots that disinfect areas with ultraviolet light.
