PARIS (Reuters) – The European Union should move forward with plans for a bloc-wide digital tax in case global negotiations at the OECD to rewrite international tax rules fail, said on Wednesday the French Minister of Finance, Bruno Le Maire.
“We believe that Europe should lead by example,” Le Maire told reporters after an online meeting with his G20 counterparts gave support for the continuation of the OECD negotiations until mid -2021.
The Mayor said that G20 ministers also agreed on a common framework for debt relief for poor countries which, for the first time, included China, which has become a major creditor of these countries in recent years. .
