GE Appliances Announces $450 Million Investment and Upgrades
Louisville-based GE Appliances, a Haier company, has recently completed a $450 million investment into its Appliance Park, unveiling two state-of-the-art assembly lines in the dishwasher manufacturing facility. This announcement comes as GE Appliances celebrates its 70th anniversary this year. The unveiling of the new dishwasher technology was met with excitement from GE Appliances, positioning the appliance manufacturer plant as the largest of its kind in the U.S.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg, and GE Appliances CEO Kevin Nolan were among the attendees for the unveiling of the dishwasher line. The event showcased the commitment of GE Appliances to the local community and the state of Kentucky.
Advanced Dishwasher Technology:
GE Appliances’ new assembly lines produce a range of dishwashers, including the luxurious Café and Monogram brands. One line specializes in these high-end offerings, while the second line, called a “flex line,” adjusts production based on customer demand. This line can produce stainless steel dishwashers, including luxury brands, as well as plastic tub dishwashers made in Louisville.
The dishwasher facility in Louisville has been operational since 1953 and employs 1,700 workers in the dishwasher unit alone. Over the past six years, GE Appliances has experienced a 50% increase in volume demand at this facility.
Virtual Reality and 3D Scanning:
GE Appliances is embracing advanced technologies in its dishwasher production facility. The use of automated driving vehicles and robots working alongside employees has improved production efficiency and ergonomics. These advancements highlight the company’s dedication to innovation and creating opportunities for its employees.
The investment and upgrades at GE Appliances’ Appliance Park demonstrate the company’s commitment to U.S. manufacturing and the local community. By working together with state and local partners, GE Appliances aims to build a stronger state economy and community.
GE Appliances’ growth in Kentucky and its dedication to manufacturing showcase the importance of the industry in the state’s economy. Governor Beshear emphasizes the significance of manufacturing, stating that it will always be a key industry in Kentucky.
GE Appliances’ investment in Appliance Park and its commitment to diversity through partnerships with minority-owned suppliers are crucial steps in promoting a thriving and inclusive appliance manufacturing industry.
As GE Appliances continues to reinvent itself, the company remains a leader in advanced manufacturing. The investment and upgrades in Louisville demonstrate the company’s determination to push boundaries and achieve what was once considered impossible in American manufacturing.
