Google has officially canceled its I / O 2020 developer conference. The company announced today that the event will not take place in any way this year.
When Google announced its first plan change earlier this month, the company said it would “explore other ways to develop Google I / O to best connect with our developer community. At that point, the company appeared to be hosting online presentations and workshops, just as Apple had announced at WWDC later this year. In response to the youngest California shelter, set up amidst the ongoing coronavirus epidemic, the company is not currently hosting the event at all.
ON #GoogleIO Update: Out of concern for the health and safety of our developers, employees, and local communities – and in line with local government requirements in the Bay Area for local protection – we’re not going to hold an I / O event capacity under any circumstances this year. (1/3)

“At the moment, the most important thing we can all do is focus on helping people with the new challenges that we all have to face. We will continue to do everything we can to help our communities stay safe, informed and connected, ”the company said on Twitter. Google is currently planning to post details of upcoming Android updates on blogs and community forums.
