A Tanishq jewelry showroom in Gandhidham town, Kutch district, Gujarat, posted a note on its door apologizing to neighborhood Hindus for the brand’s controversial TV advertisement, a the police announced on Wednesday. The handwritten Gujarati note also condemns the TV ad, which was withdrawn after being violently trolled on social media platforms.

“The store owner told us he was not threatened. As some people have requested, he had apologized in Gujarati, as Tanishq had posted the same in English nationally. There is no element of threat or attack involved, ”said Kutch-East Police Commissioner Mayur Patil.
The TV commercial featured a Muslim family getting ready for an upcoming baby shower for their Hindu stepdaughter. The Tanishq jewelry brand is a division of the Titan Company, promoted by the Tata Group in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation.
