MANSFIELD – Larry Hickman is now a consultant for the Mansfield Town Schools Technical Vocational Training Program.
He was unanimously hired Tuesday by members of the Mansfield Town School Board and will be paid $ 75 per hour, not to exceed $ 24,000 per year.
Hiring a consultant for the program has been under consideration by the district for some time, according to Stephen Rizzo, district academic director.

Hickman’s salary will be covered by a federal Perkins grant. Linda Golden, a board member, said the grant was typically used to pay for new equipment, field trips and other educational items, and wanted to know how the money was used to cover a new salary would affect that.
