Lamont still pushes for wireless 5G Technology - We-Ha

Broadband access has become more important as the pandemic has forced many residents to work from home.

Gov. Ned Lamont hopes to pressure Connecticut telecommunications companies to build state broadband capacity, telling small town leaders this week the improvements would make the state more attractive to young people. families.

“I learned in a new way how important broadband is to our future and that of our families and that of our cities,” Lamont said, addressing small town leaders at the a Wednesday meeting of the Small Town Council.

The governor said his bill would force Connecticut’s telecommunications industry to expand broadband access to “all of our people,” but said he would let the industry chop up some details. During the meeting, Speaker of the House Matt Ritter told MPs to wait for legislation in the Lamont state budget proposal early next month.
