Sonovia Tech says this mask is not only 99.9% effective in preventing the spread of COVID-19, it also offers the wearer of the mask protection against the virus.
For months you’ve heard that wearing a mask means you’re protecting those around you, but Sonovia Tech says their new mask means when you wear it you protect yourself as well.
“There is active protection,” said technical director Liat Goldhammer Steinberg. “The tissue is actually able to kill bacteria at a very high frequency, and also neutralize viruses at a very high level.”
Goldhammer Steinberg explained how it works.
The mask fabric is covered with nanoparticles of zinc oxide, which help break down the molecules present in SARS-COV2, which causes COVID-19.
She says the mask doesn’t just trap your own particles, it kills outside bacteria and neutralizes outside viruses.
Winter Park Nurse Anesthetist and Health Advocate YouTuber Sandy Grant was immediately impressed.
“In testing, they reduced the microbial load, including SARS-COV2, therefore COVID-19, by 99% in less than 30 minutes,” Grant said. “And I haven’t seen another high-tech mask that works so quickly.”
She says that what also struck her was the feeling of lightness and breathability.
She believes all the pros added together could sway even those who are most stubbornly against wearing masks.
“I think it would be helpful to wear masks if people felt they had some protection for themselves to wear them,” Grant said.
Grant is hoping that what is spreading faster than the virus is the idea that this tissue could be applied to many other areas of life, to enhance security.
“I think the point is really to look at not just the masks, but the padding in cars, the padding in Ubers, think about transit,” Grant said.
According to The site Sonovia Web, these masks have an effective rating of over 98% at filtering 5 micron particles, in accordance with World Health Organization guidelines.
