In this news, we discuss the OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei no longer at the company, leaves to start new venture.
Ahead of the launch of his new smartphone, the OnePlus 8T, company co-founder Carl Pei announced he was leaving the company. The news is not only a shock to millions of OnePlus fans this morning, but also OnePlus’ biggest upheaval since its debut 7 years ago.
The news comes from a post posted by Reddit user JonSigur, who allegedly posted alleged screenshots of internal OnePlus memos that reveal the information. While the memos don’t reveal Pei’s next destination, they do claim to reveal a change in leadership within the company.
The note notes that Emily Dai, who is currently in charge of the company’s operations in India, will be appointed to lead the Nord product line globally. This is interesting because Pei was previously in charge of the Nord series of phones.
In a separate article published on his site Web, Tech Crunch appears to have confirmed the news by claiming that sources familiar with the matter confirmed to him that Pei was indeed leaving the company. At the time of writing, Android Police has also published a story corroborating the news that Pei has left OnePlus.
While it is not known whether Pei’s departure from the company was on mutual terms, reports suggest that he indeed could have been fired. However, it could also be pure speculation, with more information on the matter expected to be revealed in the coming days.
