Representatives of Paytm and Google appeared on Thursday before the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) which is deliberating on the various facets of the Personal Data Protection Bill, 2019. The JPC shared the ideas and detailed information of the representatives of these companies regarding the protection of consumer data.
The JPC will call representatives of telecommunications companies Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel and cabin aggregation companies Ola and Uber next week. Sources said representatives of Reliance Jio were invited to appear before the JPC on November 4. Representatives of Ola and Uber will be summoned to the parliamentary committee on November 5, while representatives of Bharti Airtel and Truecaller will be summoned on November 6.
Previously, representatives of Twitter, Facebook and Amazon have submitted their representations to the JPC. The JPC, chaired by BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi, aims to bring together the views of all stakeholders before the government tables the Personal Data Protection Bill, 2019 bill in parliament. (ANI)
