There is a wide variety of topics across the two stages catering for those interested in policy from government departments, intellectual property, supply chain issues, outsourcing, marketing and regulation as well as a wealth of insights from those on the show floor.
Here’s a rundown as to what you can expect on Day One:
The Life Sciences Vision and UK MedTech Strategy
An important pair of sessions focused on the government’s plans and priorities for using the medical technology as a lever for growth in the UK economy – we are lucky to have two speakers commenting on this area.
Heather Hobson, head of regulation, access and growth at the Office for Life Sciences, will provide a keynote session on The Life Sciences Vision, updating us on the government’s progress and explaining how it supports medical technology. It will provide an insight into government priorities for the sector as well as a progress update on the key themes of the Vision. This session will provide detail on how the Vision is supporting medtech.
Following the recent announcement of the UK Government’s MedTech Strategy, we are joined by the Director of Medical Technology from the Department for Health and Social Care, David Lawson, who will provide a progress update on the implementation initiatives to fulfil the vision. His session will take place immediately after Heather Hobson’s.
Trade
The recently renamed Department for Business and Trade will delve into The Future for UK MedTech. Mark Oakes, head of life sciences (exports) will explain the department’s range of levers to support a thriving UK medtech sector in the coming years, and examples of opportunities to export to key markets such as the USA. He will also speak to how the sector is evolving and the potential the UK has to advance its leading position in research and innovation.
