Robinhood says some customer accounts may have become target of hackers

In this news, we discuss the Robinhood says some customer accounts may have become target of hackers.

(Reuters) – Fintech startup Robinhood Markets Inc said on Friday that some clients may have become targets of hackers due to the compromise of their personal email accounts outside of its platform.

The problem does not stem from a breach of the company’s systems, a company spokesperson said in a statement.

“We are actively working with those affected to secure their accounts,” Robinhood added.

Robinhood, which helped popularize commerce among millennials, has seen several outages since March due to higher than usual traffic to its app due to a recent upsurge in daytime commerce by retail investors .

Reuters last month reported that the company had increased its most recent round of investor funding to $ 660 million, giving it a valuation of $ 11.7 billion.
