Samsung has rolled out the Android 11 update for several of its smartphones via the One UI 3.0 firmware. However, this software version became obsolete in January. The brand launched its Galaxy S21 series with One UI 3.1 with new incremental features. While this update is uncertain for some handsets, the company is rolling it out for some of its flagships. Yesterday, the Galaxy Z Fold received the One UI 3.1 update. Now, it is the Galaxy Z Fold2 5G that is getting the same treatment.
Unfortunately, Samsung didn’t specify what countries are getting the One UI 3.1. However, it details the changes the update brings to the foldable handset. One of the main improvements is the multi-tasking capabilities of the folding handset. With this update, multi-tasking will become easier on the Galaxy Z Fold2 5G. Users will be able to quickly return to up to three previously opened multi-active windows on the main screen via the Recents tab. They will also be able to bring two Multi-Active Windows from the main screen to the cover screen.
The new update also allows the user to open a Multi-Window directly from the notifications in the Quick Panel. The user will just need to long-press the relevant notification and then drag and drop it onto the screen. Worth noting that notifications are now categorized, and the users can quickly switch between different media controls in Quick Panel with swipe gestures.
One UI 3.1 also syncs the weather widgets on the main and cover screens. This comes in a bid to offer the same information to the users while also allowing them to turn these screens off with a double-tap or palm touch. As usual, One UI 3.1 also brings improvements to the camera application. Now, the app allows the users to adjust the position of the controls when shooting in Flex mode. Furthermore, you can now Delete or Share the video straight from the preview window. Besides the improvements, Samsung also updated the Light and Dark themes with One UI 3.1, and the firmware also brings a new vertical volume slider.
