In addition to March’s Pixel Feature Drop, Google also rolled out a new security update that brings many new fixes and improvements for old and new Pixel devices. Google wasn’t the first to launch this month, but it’s nice to see the update rolling out to supported Pixel hardware.
As usual, Google shared details about the series of patches it released for its latest version, filling holes in Android that would otherwise impact users and experiences. This update contains patches for framework, system and other hardware components used by Android devices. As with any update, there are a lot of moving parts here, and fixing and patching will take months of work. For more information on the whole process, check out our guide here.
Additionally, Google provided pixel-specific security updates and several software experience fixes. His Pixel-specific update for the Pixel 4a, Pixel 5a, Pixel 5 and Pixel 7 series is now available. Various versions have been released, so I’ve listed them verbatim from Google’s site below.
In terms of available fixes, Google targets all areas of the operating system, improving apps, battery, charging, biometrics, camera, system, and more.
