Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is reportedly getting a sequel, and Counter-Strike 2’s beta is tentatively scheduled for this month.
A sequel will “almost certainly” come out under the title Counter-Strike 2, and the beta is set to start in his March. A number of his professional Counter-Strike players are said to be secretly testing the game already, and Lewis’ sources claim his Counter-Strike 2 is “almost ready.”
Counter-Strike 2 brings Valve’s first-person shooter (FPS) streak to 128 ticks. That’s twice his default tick rate on current Counter-Strike: Global Offensive servers. Tick rate affects the speed of your game. The higher the rate, the more responsive the game is to the player.
Additional features for Counter-Strike 2 reportedly include an improved matchmaking system that disables the use of third-party matchmaking software. According to reports, Counter-Strike 2 will also move the shooter to Valve’s Source 2 engine. This improves optimization and graphics, but at the cost of performance for low-platform players.
Counter-Strike 2 has been a priority for Valve’s developers and has been in development for some time. The source added that the development of Counter-Strike 2 is the reason many issues in Global Offensive have not been addressed.
“The number one priority is to take it out, polish it, fix all the bugs, and bring it up to the level people expect from CS,” the source claimed.
Rumors about Counter-Strike 2 first surfaced earlier this month when Nvidia’s latest driver update included files named “csgo2.exe” and “cs2.exe”. However, Valve has yet to officially confirm that the game is in the works.
