Like many teenagers, Sisters resident Kale Gardner has a YouTube channel.
But unlike many other teens, Kale doesn’t use this channel to stream videos. game play-through, or record frequent blogs about his life. Instead, he talks about climate change and education reform with politicians, like US Senator Ron Wyden or Governor Kate Brown.
Kale, 14, said his political interests were different from those of many of his classmates at Sisters College. He hopes to one day become a trusted journalist.
“A lot of people no longer trust the media and it’s sad,” he said. “Journalism doesn’t invent lies, it tells the truth, and I want to restore faith in the news media.”
