HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – Hundreds of people were sent home in disappointment after the Houston Department of Health announced it was missing doses of the COVID-19 vaccine in the mega public site at Minute Maid Park on Saturdays.
The department said staff gave 5,451 doses of the vaccine at 6 p.m. on Saturday and that there was a problem with the system that caused them to overbook appointments.
Several people left without getting vaccinated before the overbooking was announced, as the line outside Minute Maid Park surrounded half the building.
“It seems to be very disorganized,” said Elizabeth Patterson, who was one of the people to walk out of the long line after waiting for hours. “What’s the point in making an appointment if you stay here for three to four hours to get in and you might not even get it?”
