Abbott made the announcement at a Lubbock Chamber of Commerce event where he issued an executive order rescinding most of his previous executive orders, such as the mask warrant.
Also announced on Tuesday, Abbott said businesses of all types would be allowed to open 100% from March 10.
“Too many Texans have been shut out of employment opportunities. Too many small business owners have struggled to pay their bills. It must end. Now is the time to open up Texas 100%, ”he said.
Abbott’s announcement comes as Covid-19 cases and hospitalizations continue to decline across the country. However, health experts say easing restrictions could lead to another surge, especially with the variants spreading.
