The author strives to reconcile faith and science |  Art and culture scene

Many thanks to my friend Shari Stauch of Main Street Reads Indy Bookstore here in Summerville for referring this author to me. Matt Loveland will be there for a book signing Saturday from 10:30 am to noon. Loveland wrote “The Artist: Faith, Science and the Rest of Us” which is a pretty self-explanatory title. Originally from Aiken, Matt has lived in Charleston for six years.

Regan: How did this book come to be?

Loveland: I volunteered for the Young Life youth ministry in college and continued to trip students up on the scientific and logical aspects of Christianity because they didn’t feel like it wasn’t. were not questions they were “allowed” to ask.

The more I studied the subject, the more I realized that there were no simple books on it. People didn’t know because they had never been told about it. I wrote this book to introduce people of all ages to a journey to discover God as an artist who made them out of love.
