The BHF Research Center of Excellence at Imperial College London has launched a new science competition to engage sixth graders in cardiovascular research.
Imperial researchers are encouraging teams of up to six students to design an ePoster. The objective is to illustrate a strategy of bringing together the hard sciences and biomedicine to reduce the number of deaths and disabilities caused by heart and circulatory diseases.
Shortlisted teams will present their posters to a jury and first, second and third prizes of £ 3,000, £ 2,000 and £ 1,000 will be awarded to schools to support science-related activities.
Professor Dorian Haskard from the BHF Center of Research Excellence at Imperial College London, who led the competition, said:
“We are delighted to be able to launch our new competition, Science at Heart. It’s a great opportunity for sixth graders to come together, think creatively, and come up with science-based solutions that could protect people from the devastation of heart and circulatory disease.
