A new Cyberpunk 2077 mod on Nexus Mods restores the Optical Camo cyberware, cut content that grants invisibility for a short period of time. The Optical Camo cyberware does not appear as an equippable mod in-game; however, it is mentioned in passing by the Aldecaldo Camp Ripperdoc.
The “Purchasable Optical Camo Cyberware Overhaul” mod on Nexus Mods (via Wccftech) restores the invisibility upgrade on PC versions of Cyberpunk 2077. Optical Camo in the mod’s Version 2.1 comes in three different variants, too. The Rare Variant, which lasts for 10 seconds with a 40-second cooldown, is purchasable at Kravis’ Clinic in Westbrook. Players can pick up the Epic Variant in the Badlands at the Aldecaldo Camp; this version boasts a 15-second duration and 45-second cooldown. Finally, the Legendary Variant packs a 10 percent melee damage bonus, along with a 40-second cooldown and 25-second duration. The only way to access this variant is by defeating Oda; players who’ve already taken him down can collect the Legendary cyberware by visiting any Ripperdoc in Night City.
As of now, the reason behind the invisibility cyberware’s removal remains a mystery. It’s not the only interesting gameplay idea that wound up on the cutting room floor, either. Long before the sci-fi RPG hit store shelves, CD Projekt Red developers teased a wall-running mechanic. Some may recall that such a feature even made a brief appearance in early trailers for the game. The development team ultimately elected to scrap the mechanic “due to design reasons,” level designer Max Pears divulged in a GameReactor interview last summer. A fan-made mod managed to restore Cyberpunk 2077’s wall-running feature; now yet another mod is exploring previously excised content.
Since launch, CD Projekt Red has continuously updated the game with changes of its own across all platforms. The most recent patch went live last week, ushering in improvements to visuals, UI, and performance. A good chunk of bug were taken care of as well, with fixes that notably tackled quest-related troubles and myriad issues that plagued the open-world.
