ST. LOUIS – If you take your mom or dad to see the Mummies of the World exhibit at the St. Louis Science Center, try to remember that they were once real people.
“It’s really important that we treat each individual inside as an individual,” said Neville Crenshaw, director of special exhibits at the Saint Louis Science Center. “They are real people; they had relatives and friends. We want to make sure that every individual is treated in the most ethical way possible. We refer to them by name. We want to make sure you learn the story that individuals can tell. “
The traveling exhibition brings these members of the mummy’s family to this family-friendly scientific location until September 6.
“The detail work on the faces is pretty ornate,” Crenshaw said. “Intended to represent the person who is inside. It is so that the soul can recognize to whom to return.
What remains true of this exhibit might be the morbid curiosity of what lies ahead for all of us.
