Oppo is rumored to be working on a foldable smartphone. The company unveiled the Oppo X 2021 earlier this year, a concept smartphone with a rollable/sliding display that can be extended sideways. Oppo’s upcoming foldable smartphone is expected to take on Samsung and Huawei, which have already launched several foldable smartphones, including the recently unveiled Galaxy Fold 3 and Z Flip 3. Oppo has yet to announce an official launch date for its upcoming foldable phone. However, some details of the device have already leaked online. The latest leak concerns the Oppo Fold’s battery specifications.

While a 4,500 mAh battery is pretty big, it would be interesting to see what optimization tricks Oppo uses to ensure that the device with a large display offers a long battery life. According to rumors, Oppo’s foldable phone will have a 7.8/8-inch display. It will also be an AMOLED panel with a 2K resolution. The display is also said to support a refresh rate of 120 Hz.

Oppo has long been rumored to be working on its version of the Galaxy Z Fold 3. The company might soon launch a foldable device called Oppo Fold. Ahead of the launch, some details have surfaced on the Internet. Tipster Digital Chat Station (via Mukul Sharma) claims that Oppo will pack a 4,500 mAh battery into its foldable smartphone. The device will also support a 65-watt fast charging feature, which is also found in several other premium and flagship smartphones from Oppo.

Under the hood, Oppo is supposed to install Qualcomm’s top Snapdragon 888 SoC. We can assume that the device will be equipped with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB or 512 GB of internal storage. According to rumors, Oppo will also use Sony’s IMX766 50MP camera in its foldable device. The same sensor can be found in the Find X3 Pro and even in OnePlus’ latest flagship smartphones. For selfies, there will be a 32MP front-facing camera. It is not known whether Oppo will opt for an under-screen camera system.

For biometrics, the phone will have a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Last but not least, it is supposed to boot ColorOS 12 based on Android 11 out of the box. This may seem strange since Oppo recently announced its ColorOS 12 based on Android 12 earlier this month.
