CHAPEL HILL, NC (WTVD) – Ron McKelvey is running out of patience.
“I feel like I’ve been under house arrest since March basically,” he said.
Ron is 74 and lives in Wake County with his 75-year-old wife Sharon, who is eligible for a vaccine during phase 1B. However, under current guidelines, it is not.
“I have a sister who lives less than two miles away,” Ron says. “I’m so scared of this virus that I’m not going to visit my own sister.”
He’s called his primary care doctor and can’t get any response and experts say that while the supply of the COVID-19 vaccine is limited, it’s the best thing to do.
In the meantime, UNC Health has thousands of appointments this week to administer COVID-19 vaccines statewide.
