Trai extends the deadline until April 23 for satellite connectivity paper submissions, Telecom News, ET Telecom

The deadline for submission of written comments and counter comments has been extended upto April 23 and May 7 respectively upon industry request, Trai said in a release on Friday. The low bit-rate applications (below 64 kbits per second) are sensor-based applications used in ATMs, traffic management, vehicle tracking, internet of things (IoT) devices etc.

The telecom department had written to Trai in November last year to furnish recommendations for licensing guidelines including the entry fee, license fee, bank guarantee, spectrum usage charges/royalty fee, etc. for satellite services services for both commercial and captive usage.

Source Trai in its paper said sensor connectivity solutions are envisaged in numerous sectors such as agriculture, smart farming, deep-water applications, mission-critical services, oil and gas, fisheries, forestry, logistics, mining, industrial logistics, railways, remote utilities, disaster preparedness and many more.
