A flagship title since the Xbox 360, Gears of War has beaten the odds of remaining in the public eye by slowly reorganizing itself over time. Gears 5 of 2019 focused on a female character for the first time, putting players in the boots of COG soldier Kait Diaz as she appropriates her legacy as the daughter of the Queen of the Horde Locust.
Gears 5 was well received upon its initial release, with reviews swinging between calling it the best in the series to date and a solid progression that has ceased to capture the original feel of Gears of War.
