Due to the ongoing pandemic, members of Vienna’s city council unanimously extended on January 4 until July 4 a pair of emergency zoning ordinances that were due to expire at the end of the month.
One of the emergency ordinances, originally passed on September 4 last year and re-enacted on October 5, allows City Manager Mercury Payton to issue temporary operating permits to businesses. The city director can also derogate from regulations relating to signage and conditional use permits.
The measure is designed to provide an “accelerated and streamlined process for institutions with limited administrative burden,” city officials said.
