Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren backed Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen’s recent bitcoin comments in an interview with CNBC Squawk Box Tuesday.

When asked if she agreed with the comments claiming that cryptocurrency was a ‘speculative’ asset created by Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen in late February, the senator responded, a bit shyly: “I think that Janet is a really smart woman. ”

When pressed, she said, “‘Speculative in nature and going to end badly’ – I don’t think Janet left much room for ambiguity.”

The CNBC host also clarified that Yellen actually said bitcoin could “end badly for some.”
