Today, the Los Angeles basin will experience cloudy weather that will eventually clear up to sun with temperatures in the mid-60s. Here are some quick facts about the weather:
Coastal areas will experience similar temperatures, but with less chance of clouds clearing. The mountains will have more sun, but temperatures will be lower in the low to mid-50s. Areas further inland could see patchy drizzle in the morning, with sun and temperatures rising up to 70 later in the day.
Unfortunately, temperatures are expected to remain cooler than usual for this time of year throughout the long weekend. Morning clouds and drizzle will also continue into next week. The gray weather is due to a heavy marine layer and strong onshore flow.
This Day In History
In 1951, the desert experienced some intense heat. Strong high pressure caused temperatures to reach 115 in Palm Springs and 114 in Thermal. The highest recorded temperature in the region was in Indio, which hit 116 degrees.
