- To get to the Start menu, press the Windows key and then click Settings. You can also press the Windows key + I to open it right away.
- Open Settings and click on System in the left column. Then click on Power & battery in the right column.
- To see the full menu, scroll down to the right column and click on Screen, sleep & shutdown timeouts.
- If your device is plugged in or on battery, use the dropdown choices to change the “Make my device sleep after” settings to “Never.”
Use Group Policy Editor to Stop PC from Sleeping
If you have Windows 11 Pro or Enterprise, you can use the Local Group Policy Editor to stop your PC from going to sleep.
- To open the Run box, press the Windows key + R.
- Type gpedit.msc into the search box, then press Enter or OK.
- Once the Local Group Policy Editor is open, go to this link:
- Double-click the rules that say “Allow standby states when sleeping ” and “Allow standby states when sleeping and turn them on.
- Once you’ve chosen “Enabled,” click “Apply” and “OK” to save the policy change.
Stop Your Windows 11 PC from Sleeping via PowerToys
Here are the steps you need to take to run the PowerToys utility and use the Awake module to keep your PC from going to sleep.
- If you don’t already have it, get PowerToys from the Microsoft Store.
- After setting up, go to the taskbar’s overflow menu and select the “Awake” feature.
- From the choice that comes up, choose “Keep awake indefinitely.”
