How to Set Custom Repeat Reminders with Siri on iPhone

Create custom repeat reminders on your iPhone with Siri. Stay on top of your schedule and never forget an important task or event.

This guide is about the Set a Custom Repeat Reminder on iPhone with Siri. I will try my best so that you understand this guide very well. I hope you all like this guide Set a Custom Repeat Reminder on iPhone with Siri.

Ever wanted to create a reminder for an iPhone with a unique playback interval? Maybe alternating days, like a reminder every other day or a reminder every third day? Oddly enough, this option isn’t naturally available in iOS Calendar or Reminder apps, but these custom repeat reminder settings exist on iPhone and iPad, all you have to do is use Siri to create them.

Like almost everything with Siri, it’s actually pretty easy to do, and once these custom reminders are created, they sync with your other iCloud devices to calendars and reminders just as you expected.

How to create custom interval reminders on iOS using Siri

To call Siri as usual, press and hold the Home button or start Hey Siri and use the following word information:

  • remind me [task] [custom interval]

Here are some practical examples of using the right language that works with Siri:

  • Remind me to water my plants every 3 days
  • Remind me to take the pill every other day at 10:30
  • Remind me to eat potato chips every Thursday and Friday
  • Remind me to do something every other day when I come home

Repeat the interval reminders added via Siri on iOS

Each recurring reminder of this type is added to your list as a custom play and synced to all of your iCloud devices:

Note that location-based replays must use the locations specified in your contacts or otherwise to your home, work, etc.

Inconsistencies with custom reminders and calendar apps on Mac OS X and iOS

Now, things are getting a little weird here because of the inconsistency in the way these apps and reminders work on iOS and Mac OS X, and how they’re used through Siri or similar apps after they’re created with Siri. Ken H., who sent the hint, explains:

With iPhone Calendar, you can’t customize playback – you only have a handful of choices like every day, every week, etc. But you can do it with Calendar on a Mac (iMac, MacBook); for example, the third Thursday of each month. And either way, when you do this on a Mac, it syncs with your iPhone, even if you can’t do it right there.

With reminders, you can’t customize playback on either iPhone or Mac. you get the same handful as I mentioned above.

So why can we create custom reminders on iPhone and iPad via Siri or Calendar for Mac OS X, but not in iOS apps, of course? It’s probably just control and something that will be resolved in a future version of iOS. These types of custom reminders aren’t even included in the giant Siri command lists on the assistant dashboard, but that’s likely to change soon. In the meantime, using Siri is easy and syncs like other reminders, so there’s no harm in not including them directly.

Thanks to Ken for a great tip!
