We finally got a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphone, even though it took a long time. The beastly flagship has arrived at the office. Before we give it to our review team to do their thing, let’s take a quick look at how it came packaged. When we take our grey Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra out of the box, we can see right away that it looks different thanks to the new titanium frame. It weighs the same as the S23 Ultra that came before it because both had aluminium frames, which were already pretty light.
Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: Description
The only things in the box are the phone, a USB-C cable, and a tool to remove the SIM tray. There is no charger of any kind. It will always be different from market to market, but some stores will give you a charger for free. This is the fourth generation of Ultra flagships with the same camera layout. It’s also the third in a row to use the droplet design, which means there are no camera islands at all.
You can still find the S-Pen inside the phone, so you can always get to it. The Galaxy S24 Ultra is a little shorter, a little wider, and a little thinner than the S23 Ultra. However, the differences are so small that it’s easy to mix them up. The device is slightly more square-shaped and the lenses protrude in this instance as well, but these are minor characteristics that are insignificant in real life.
In all markets, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. In some markets, its smaller siblings are powered by the Exynos 2400. Galaxy AI is meant to be the big change in the new series, but the brand-new screen glass that cuts down on reflections could steal the show just as easily. People have high hopes for every Samsung flagship, and the S24 Ultra is no different.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: Design and Build Quality
The boxy shape of the phone, in which the sleek titanium rails and the cutting-edge Gorilla Glass Victus+ blend together in a seamless manner, is a clear indication of the rigorous attention to detail that was put into the phone. This combination not only gives the device an opulent appearance, but it also guarantees an unrivaled level of longevity, which is a demonstration of the device’s dedication to high-end craftsmanship.
Because of the ergonomic considerations that went into the design, it is a pleasure to handle, and it offers a grip that is both pleasant and secure. Enhancing the overall premium vibe is the tactile sensation of the titanium rails, which lends a touch of refinement to the overall experience. Additionally, the Gorilla Glass Victus+, which is well-known for its durability, acts as a protective shield, sheltering the device from scratches, drops, and the general wear and tear that occurs in everyday life.
Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: Display
The Galaxy S24 Ultra’s screen is great, just what you’d expect from a top-of-the-line smartphone. It’s huge, colourful, and bright, especially when the Vivid colour tone option is used. This screen can be changed in many ways. For example, the brightness and colour tones can adapt to the lighting around them and make the screen look its best. The screen can get as bright as 2,600 nits when it’s outside in bright light.
It’s not the brightest you can find, but you won’t need anything brighter. The Extra Dim choice might be even more interesting. The Galaxy S24 Ultra can keep colours true even when the brightness is turned down by one nit. In that dark, you might be able to check your messages in the theatre, but you’d be a really bad person. You could, though. There is a mode that keeps the screen on all the time, but Samsung also makes its own S-View cases, which have a small window that lets you see the time, weather, and notifications through a wallet cover case.
They never stopped making these cool case features, even though we haven’t looked at them in a while. It would be great if Samsung stopped trying to stop Dolby Vision on its TVs and phones. A screen with Dolby Vision makes Netflix shows look better than a screen without it if you watch a lot of them. Samsung doesn’t seem to understand why it shouldn’t support Dolby’s HDR video standard since it does support Dolby Audio.
Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: Cameras
There is a 200MP main camera, a 12MP ultrawide camera, a 10MP 3x telephoto camera, a 12MP selfie camera, and a new 50MP 5x telephoto camera on the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The only sensor that doesn’t look like it’s from a different phone is the 50MP telephoto sensor. The Galaxy S23 Ultra had a 10x zoom lens, but Samsung says that the new 5x lens will still have a 10x zoom without any loss of quality because it has a higher resolution.
Besides the single sensor change, there have been other changes to photography. In addition to better “Nightography” low-light shooting, Samsung is promoting Super HDR support for the Camera, Gallery, and Instagram apps, as well as a number of new AI features, such as automatic photo remastering or reflection removal. The Galaxy S24 Ultra’s generative editing feature may be the biggest AI update for photos.
It lets you move things in a picture or make the edges of the picture bigger to fix a shot that’s off-center or too close to the subject. These are watermarked so that no one can be fooled into thinking that changes made by AI are real. Instant slo-mo is the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s most famous AI-powered video feature. It adds in-between frames to slow down and smooth out your existing video clips. To use it, just long-press on a video in your Gallery.
Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: Storage and Expandability Options
The S24 Ultra is a technological marvel that gives users a wide range of storage options to meet their wants and tastes. Samsung has made sure that users can customize their device to fit their ever-growing digital lives by offering sizes of 256GB, 512GB, and a huge 1TB. But the fact that there isn’t a microSD card slot makes things a little more difficult to decide.
Before making a choice, users are told to carefully think about how much data they need and how they usually use their devices. For most people, the 256GB model might be enough, giving them plenty of room for apps, photos, and movies. Power users or people with large media libraries may find the 512GB or 1TB choices better because they can store a lot of material without worrying about running out of space.
Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: Special Features
A technological marvel that pushes the boundaries of innovation, the S24 Ultra is the most recent flagship smartphone that Samsung has released. It stands out as a testament to the unrelenting quest of excellence in mobile technology since it is packed with features that are at the bleeding edge of technology. Video editing skills that are powered by artificial intelligence are one of the most notable aspects of the S24 Ultra.
Through the utilization of the capabilities of artificial intelligence, users are now able to effortlessly enhance and edit their movies with an ease that has never been seen before. Users are able to create videos of professional quality with just a few touches because to the device’s intelligence analysis of content, suggestions for creative additions, and streamlining of the editing process.
Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: Performance
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy chipset is in all versions of the Galaxy S24 Ultra sold around the world. The new chip should make performance faster and more efficient. It should also make ray tracing better for games. The “For Galaxy” version of the chip means it may work better than other Snapdragon-powered flagship Android phones.
This is based on the test results we saw with the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chip. The Galaxy S24 Ultra now comes with 12GB of RAM by default, but the 256GB of storage space hasn’t changed. You can get 512GB or 1TB of storage on the phone if you’re willing to pay more.
Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: Battery Life and Charging
The Galaxy S24 Ultra has a 5,000 mAh battery, just like the last few generations of Ultra Sony phones. Since the new chip makes things more efficient, we still hope that Samsung will be able to make the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s already great battery life even better with this new version. Based on our tests, the S24 Ultra has a much longer battery life.
The record time it gets on Tom’s Guide’s battery benchmark test is 16 hours and 45 minutes. That’s more than three hours longer than the S23 Ultra. The Galaxy S24 Ultra also has the same 45W wired charging and 15W wireless charging features as the Galaxy S23 Ultra. If you use a charger that works with your phone, Samsung says it will charge to 65% in 30 minutes. This is still a little too slow for us.
Pros
- Stunning display
- Powerful performance
- Excellent camera system
- Innovative features
Cons
- No microSD card slot
- Expensive
- Some bloatware persists
Final Words
With the Galaxy S24 Ultra, Samsung has once again proven that it is the best Android flagship phone. Its powerful processor, beautiful screen, and flexible camera system make it impossible for any other device to compete. On the other hand, buyers who are worried about their finances might not buy it because it’s expensive and doesn’t have expandable storage. If you want the best Android experience with the newest features, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is the phone to get. You could choose the S24 or S24+ versions, though, if you want a smaller size and a better deal.
