Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite review

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is a new addition to Samsung's tablet lineup. As the name suggests, it is a less expensive version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is a new addition to Samsung’s tablet lineup. As the name suggests, it is a less expensive version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6. The Galaxy Tab S6 is very expensive but has an AMOLED display, four creative speakers, and a powerful processor, while the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite has a TFT display, two speakers, and a slightly weaker processor.

Creativity becomes easy with the $349.99 Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite. It is the best way to get a tablet with an active stylus at a relatively low price. The S Pen included in the S6 Lite offers $80 less than the basic iPad pencil, making this tablet a good choice for note-taking or drawing on a budget. However, the basic iPad remains our Editors’ Choice because there is much more creative software available for that platform. The world of Android tablets is a bit strange.

There is a wide range of media tablets under $200, such as Amazon Fire and Walmart’s Onn tablets, but the market is so dominated by the various iPads that cheap Android tablets have relatively little access. However, Samsung continues to push with its mid-range Tab A line, the high-end Tab S6, and now the 64 GB S6 Lite, which rivals the basic 32 GB iPad model ($329).

Design

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is very similar to the Galaxy Tab S6 at the front, but with a slightly smaller 10.4-inch display. It has thick bezels, which is acceptable for a tablet of this size. At 7 mm thick, the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is thinner than some smartphones we have reviewed recently. The tablet weighs 467 g, a weight that is felt when using it for long periods with one hand. However, we found it comfortable for two-handed use. Samsung opted for a metallic finish that gives the device a premium feel. The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is available in three colors: Angora Blue, Oxford Grey, and Chiffon Pink, of which we have the last one.

The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite has a 3.5 mm headphone jack on top, as well as an additional microphone and top speaker. The power button on the right can also be used to activate Bixby. The SIM tray is slightly lower and can accommodate a Nano-SIM and microSD card. On the lower right half of the tablet are magnets to attach the included S Pen. This version of the S Pen does not have Bluetooth like the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6.

Display

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite has a 10.4-inch 2000 x 1200 LCD screen. It is only 0.1 inches smaller than the non-Lite tablet, but the lack of a higher resolution AMOLED panel is one of the casualties of this inexpensive tablet. The screen quality is quite good for an LCD screen: it is nice and bright and easy to see even outdoors, but the colors sometimes look a bit washed out compared to screens on other devices, and even when playing games or watching videos. the movies were sometimes noticeably low resolution.

That said, depending on the streaming services you watch content on or your subscription package, this clearance might be all you need and only those with access to 4K content might find the tablet not up to par. Also, the 5:3 aspect ratio is just a step up from the 16:9 with which many TV shows and movies are streamed. This means that you will not notice a black bar at the top and bottom of the screen when viewing content, as is the case with iPads, which tend to have 4:3 displays.

Price

However, the area where the Tab S6 Lite has an advantage over its sibling is price. At only $349-or $399 for the 4G LTE model-the Tab S6 Lite is almost half the price of the regular Tab S6, which costs $619 or $689, depending on the model chosen. As we have already mentioned, the Tab S6 Lite is the same price as Apple’s entry-level 10.2-inch iPad.

That’s a bit disappointing-Samsung should surpass Apple in this scenario-but the Tab S6 Lite comes with twice the basic storage space (64 GB) for the same price, which can also be upgraded with a microSD and an included S Pen stylus. There are virtually no alternatives to Android. The best one we found is the Huawei Mate Pad Pro, although it does not come with full Android and costs 150 euros more. If you prefer a Windows tablet, the new Surface Go 2 starts at $399.

Stylus pen

We have to give Samsung credit. Although we would have liked the Tab S6 Lite to have an iPad price of $329, the free edition of the S-Pen makes the $349 price more than acceptable. This S-Pen is also more comfortable to hold and type on, thanks to the flattened side to improve grip and the way the tip flexes slightly when you press hard on the screen.

In addition, the S-Pen offers a great writing experience. When we drew with the Samsung Notes app, we noticed incredibly fast input recognition with almost no lag, on par with the Apple Pencil. In addition, the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite’s S-Pen docks to the side of the tablet rather than being inserted into its ports.

Performance

Let’s start with the display and stereo speakers. The panel used by Samsung for the Galaxy S6 Lite is not bad, but we expected more. It has good viewing angles, but it is not very bright. Unfortunately, we could not find a way to adjust the color profile. The audio output is good and you get stereo sound when watching content in landscape mode. Dolby Atmos is also present, which makes a noticeable difference when activated. The S Pen does not have Bluetooth, so it cannot be used as a remote shutter button for the camera, as you can with the Galaxy Tab S6.

However, you can press the button and tap the S Pen display when the tablet is idle to take quick notes. The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite wakes up quickly and you can start writing right away. We found the palm rejection excellent, and you can rest your palm on the large display while writing with the S Pen. The Notes app has a handwriting recognition feature that allows you to convert what you have scribbled into text.

Battery life

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is powered by a 7,040 mAh battery, which is fairly standard for a tablet of this size — the iPad 10.2 is slightly larger, but just barely. We were impressed with the battery life of the device, which easily lasted for a day of normal use. Even when it came to more demanding activities, such as long video calls, we never worried about the impact on battery life. Unlike a smartphone, and as is the case with most tablets, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is not a device that needs to be recharged every day to keep running, unless you really push it to its limits.

The Tab S6 Lite supports 15W fast charging, which would be too slow even for a smartphone, but since the portable power bank is twice the size of most phones, it can take a long time to power up the device. This is not a device that can be plugged in just for a quick burst of power here and there, and we found it more natural to charge the device while it is in use rather than plugging it in somewhere and forgetting about it while it is running.

Audio

What a pleasant surprise. The two speakers on the top and bottom of the Galaxy Tab S6 offer balanced and clear sound. Brandon Flower’s unmistakable voice filled my large living room without the slightest hint of distortion. There was a bit of strain in the treble when we listened at maximum volume, but that didn’t stop me from listening to this pop-rock anthem. You will be satisfied with the sound quality of the S6 Lite if you are not expecting bass-heavy.

Final words

We hope you have understood and enjoyed this blog review of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite. The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is another Android tablet from Samsung and does not have many competitors these days. It is well built and offers solid battery life. The S Pen stylus is a great addition, fortunately, included in the box. We hope you will share this blog with family and friends.
