iPhone 14 Pro vs OnePlus 10 Pro

The iPhone 14 Pro marks Apple’s first major camera upgrade in a while and, in our tests, proved to be a capable one. The OnePlus 10 Pro, with all its Hasselblad-tuned photographic capabilities, cost only $100 less than the iPhone 14 Pro at the time of launch and was a rival to Apple’s flagship Pro. With the 14 Pro, Apple has eliminated the notch in one of the most interesting ways we have seen. Instead of replacing it with a pill or hole design found on many Android phones, Apple integrated the notch into iOS and called it the Dynamic Island. This means the notch can show notifications, calls, AirPods connection and more, making it appear almost invisible.

This is not to say that OnePlus’ notch is particularly obtrusive. The phone includes a small hole camera in the upper left corner, which still leaves room for a large screen. The OnePlus 10 Pro features a 6.7-inch QHD+ display that uses a second-generation LTPO panel. It is also equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and aims to offer a unique photo experience with a 150-degree Ultrawide camera and implementations from the second year of partnership with Hasselblad.

iPhone 14 Pro vs. OnePlus 10 Pro

Starting our design comparison, you will notice that the back of the iPhone 14 Pro does not look much different from its predecessor. There are no changes to the square-edged design, and the smartphone still features the same stainless steel rails and ceramic protection on both the front and back. Among the changes, however, are some new colors and a 48MP primary sensor (more on that later).

On the other hand, the OnePlus 10 Pro has a design similar to that of the Samsung Galaxy flagships. OnePlus has created a camera array that blends with the metal frame on the side of the smartphone. Unlike the iPhone 14 Pro, which has a flat back, the back of the OnePlus 10 Pro is curved, making it easier to hold. Speaking of the structure of the OnePlus 10 Pro, it is worth noting that the company used Victus Gorilla Glass on the front. However, the back panel still uses Gorilla Glass 5.

As for the display, the OnePlus 10 Pro features a 6.7-inch hole-punch display. In comparison, the iPhone 14 Pro features a much smaller 6.1-inch panel. Despite the iPhone 14 Pro’s dynamic island notch, the OnePlus 10 Pro has a 90 percent higher screen-to-body ratio, even with a larger chin. Both smartphones have display panels with excellent contrast ratio, 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and high resolution. Because the panel can now go down to 1Hz, Apple has finally added an always-on mode to the iPhone 14 Pro. In contrast, OnePlus smartphones, including the OnePlus 10 Pro, have had this feature for some time.

And if we talk about contrasts, the OnePlus 10 Pro has a curved display, while the iPhone 14 Pro has a flat panel. Although the OnePlus 10 Pro’s display is extremely impressive, I find flat panels more comfortable and easier to use. However, one key area where the OnePlus 10 Pro loses to the iPhone 14 Pro is outdoor visibility. The iPhone 14 Pro has a peak brightness of 2,000 nits, making it easier to see outdoors. The OnePlus 10 Pro’s display, on the other hand, is a bit difficult to see in direct sunlight because of its low peak brightness of only 1,300 nits.

In terms of performance, the Apple iPhone 14 is powered by the A15 Bionic chipset. This is the same processor used in last year’s Apple iPhone 13 smartphone. The chipset has 5nm fabrication, which means it is really battery efficient. On the other hand, the OnePlus 10 Pro has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. This is an octa-core chipset with high battery efficiency. It is an octa-core chipset with 4nm manufacturing process.

The Apple iPhone 14 is launched with a base model that offers 128 GB of storage space. In addition, 256 GB and 512 GB storage variants are also available. There is some similarity with the OnePlus 10 Pro base model, which also offers 128 GB of storage.

With the iPhone 14 Pro, Apple has finally caught up with its Android competitors: the smartphone now features a 48MP sensor (previous generations had a 12MP sensor). It also features an ultra-wide and telephoto lens that is better than the previous generation. Thanks to the new sensors and next-generation computational photo engine, Apple promises a quantum leap in camera performance in low light and everyday use.

Unlike past OnePlus flagships, the OnePlus 10 Pro’s camera system particularly impressed us. The collaboration with Hasselblad seems to have finally come to fruition, as the OnePlus 10 Pro’s color science and overall image rendition are on par with other Android flagships.

Battery & Charging

The iPhone 14 has support for 20W fast charging. It is similar to the 20W fast charging technology of the iPhone 13. In addition, the Apple iPhone 14 has a 3279 mAh battery, which is expected to provide longer battery life than the Apple iPhone 13. On the other hand, the battery specifications of the OnePlus 10 Pro include a 5000 mAh battery. In addition, the battery is paired with an impressive 80W fast charging support. The OnePlus 10 Pro definitely takes the win.

Final Words

From the looks of it, the Apple iPhone 14 is a flagship device to keep an eye on if you want an iOS-based smartphone. With slightly improved cameras, better battery capacity, and fast charging, it is well worth the splurge. On the other hand, the OnePlus 10 Pro has 80 W high-speed fast charging and a much more versatile camera setup than the Apple iPhone 14.
