Samsung Galaxy A54 vs Galaxy A53 2024: review and features

With the Galaxy A54 5G, Samsung made the screen a little smaller at 6.4 inches, but the Vision Booster feature made it brighter at 1,000 nits. The front and back of the new phone are made of Gorilla Glass, but it still has a plastic frame like the Galaxy A53 5G. The South Korean company keeps doing what it has always done, which is to offer an IP67 rating for resistance to dust and water.

With the Exynos 1380 chipset, the company has also been able to improve its overall performance. It is a 5nm processor with four high-performance Cortex-A78 CPU cores and a 20% stronger GPU. This makes it as good as the Snapdragon 778G chipset used in the Galaxy A52s 5G. If you want more storage than the 128GB or 256GB that come with the phone, you can use a microSD card slot.

Both phones have the same 5,000mAh battery and 25W fast charging, so they won’t have very different battery lives. The Galaxy A54 5G comes with One UI 5.1, which is based on Android 13. It will get four major Android OS updates, which will make it compatible with Android 17. That’s an extra year over the Galaxy A53 5G. With the Galaxy A54 5G, Samsung has also made the main camera better. It has a 50MP primary sensor with bigger pixels, an improved OIS, and Nightography features.

The company says that the OIS now responds to shakes and vibrations four times faster and can compensate for them 50% more. Both phones have a 32MP front-facing camera, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 5MP macro camera. But Samsung has taken away the depth sensor. Both phones have a fingerprint reader built into the screen, as well as 5G, GPS, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and a USB Type-C port.

Price and availability

The Samsung Galaxy A54 goes on sale in the U.S. on April 6 and in the U.K. on April 25. The starting price is $449/£449, but the starting specs are a little different. In the U.S., you get 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, while in Europe, you get 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

That’s the same price as the Galaxy A53 in the U.S., but it’s a bit more expensive in the UK, where the A53 was first sold for £399. Both places also get a version of the Galaxy A54 that costs more. For £50 more, you can get 256GB of storage or an upgrade to 8GB RAM.

Samsung Galaxy A54 vs Galaxy A53 Design

Samsung Galaxy A54 vs Galaxy A53

Design is personal, but I think the Galaxy A54 looks a lot better than its predecessor. The Galaxy A54 is much better than the Galaxy A53, which had a plastic back panel, not only in how it looks but also in how it is made. The front and back of the Galaxy A54 are both made of glass, making it a “glass sandwich.” Both phones have an IP67 rating, which means they can handle water and dust.

Even though the Galaxy A54 is smaller, it is slightly heavier at 202 grammes. But the device’s weight is well distributed, so it doesn’t feel heavy at all. The new design of the A54, which looks a lot like the flagship Galaxy S23 series, may be the biggest difference between it and the A53. One of the best things about the Galaxy A54 is its new design, which has rounded corners and separate camera lenses that stick out the back.

The new model is shorter, wider, and slightly heavier than the A53, but it is almost the same thickness. Both devices have an IP67 rating, which means that they can handle water and dust. Samsung says, though, that this resistance is not permanent and may lose some of its strength over time.

There are four colours for the Galaxy A53: black, white, blue, and peach. The more recent Galaxy A54 also comes in four colours: lime, graphite, violet, and white. Lime is one of the Galaxy S23 series’ exclusive colours, so it’s nice to see it on an A-series phone.

Samsung Galaxy A54 vs Galaxy A53 Display

Samsung Galaxy A54 vs Galaxy A53

The Galaxy A54 5G has a screen that is just a little bit smaller. It is still an Infinity-O Super AMOLED screen with a hole for the front camera, and both devices have the same resolution and refresh rate.

That means that both have a refresh rate of 120Hz to keep your content looking smooth, and both have the same resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels. The only real difference is that the Galaxy A54’s screen is brighter. Its brightest point is over 1000 nits, which is 25% brighter than the previous model. This should help it work better outside when it’s brighter.

Samsung Galaxy A54 vs Galaxy A53 Camera

The only big difference between the Galaxy A54 and A53 is that the A54 has a new 50MP main camera that should help it work better in low light.Even though the new phone has a lower resolution, you may know that the number of megapixels doesn’t matter as much as how the image is processed. Watch reviews and camera comparisons if you want to be sure that the Galaxy A54 takes better photos and videos.

Samsung has also gotten rid of the 5MP depth camera, which is a good thing because the lens was only there to promote the “quad-camera setup.” If Samsung gets rid of it, they can use the money they save to improve the quality of the cameras they already have by using better hardware and better image algorithms.

Samsung Galaxy A54 vs Galaxy A53 Audio Quality

Both phones have a main speaker that faces down and a second speaker in the earpiece. This is a pretty standard audio setup. We thought the A53 5G’s speakers were good for the price. At the highest volume levels, there was distortion, but a few levels below that, the sound was clear, but the lower frequencies were missing, so there was room for improvement overall.

We will soon test the Galaxy A54 5G’s loudspeakers and let you know how good they are here, so check back in a couple of weeks. One problem with the A53 5G was that its haptic feedback was not very clear. It wasn’t nearly as good as the sharp and precise feedback you get from the Taptic Engine on an iPhone or some newer OnePlus phones. We haven’t tested the A54 5G haptic motor yet to see if it’s better, but so far we haven’t heard of any improvements coming soon.

Samsung Galaxy A54 vs Galaxy A53 Performance

Samsung Galaxy A54 vs Galaxy A53

The Exynos 1380 chip is new to the Galaxy A54. Samsung says that the A54’s 1280 chip will have 20% better CPU performance and 26% better GPU performance than the A53’s 1280 chip. If you want to buy these smartphones, you can visit on official website.

Also, the Galaxy A54 is now available with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage for the first time. For customers in the U.S., the standard A54 still has 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage, while the more expensive model has 8GB RAM. In Europe, 8GB is the standard, and the cheapest model has 128GB of storage while the most expensive one has 256GB.

Samsung Galaxy A54 vs Galaxy A53 Battery Life

Both phones have a 5,000 mAh battery and can be charged quickly (up to 25W) through the USB Type-C port. The charger is sold separately for each phone. The Galaxy A54 has a slightly longer battery life than the Galaxy A53. This is because it has a slightly smaller screen and a more efficient processor.

Which one should you consider?

The big difference with the Samsung Galaxy A54 5G is how it looks. This mid-range phone looks a little bit better than the Galaxy S23+ because it has a similar design. If you want a flagship phone but can’t afford it, the Galaxy A54 looks better than ever and is built better than the A53.

There is an improvement in performance, and while the Galaxy A54’s screen is slightly smaller than that of the Galaxy A54, it may work better outside because it is brighter. Other than that, it’s pretty much the same as the Galaxy A54. Lastly, the main camera should have a larger sensor and be in a better place for taking pictures in low light. The rest of the camera stays the same, but the new model should be a little better.
